October 9th and I’ve pulled the Ace of Cups. Wowzer. Two Aces in a row!
I’m up super early, which is not unusual for me. The sky is deliciously dark, and the stars—oh my, the stars—they’re so bright against the velvet night. Not forgetting the moon, which is just off from being full.
I shuffled my deck, wrapped up in my PJs and layers, asking the universe for guidance for my day. And hey, another Ace! Cups!
I remember the meaning using the acronym: Community, Union, Partnership, Solidarity.
The Imagery and Message
The card’s imagery is wonderful: the sky is shades of yellow behind a fluffy pink cloud, and a white owl is soaring high. Below, there is a pool of water with water lilies and water spouts, and the beautiful gold goblet is sparkling.
The message? Well, my cup does truly runneth over. I feel tired today, but that’s most days and I’m used to it now. Yet, I feel joy, I feel life, and I feel inspired by the amazing universe. It’s oh, so quiet and peaceful this morning.
I don’t know what the day brings, but I know it’s going to be a good one. I can tell already. I won’t be up too much physically, but mentally, for the moment at least, I can savor this feeling of being alive, being excited. All doubts aside, I’m looking forward to embracing what’s on the horizon and around the corner.
The Granny Square Analogy
All of the considerable effort and hard work is coming together. Working when I can, in little bits and pieces here and there, has made it difficult at times to ever see it all coming together. Now, here I am, able to see the potential.
It’s like making a granny square blanket, piece by piece, square by square, loving every stitch.
Some days, you look at your first few squares and think, “Okay, this is going to take a long time.” A little further down the road, you might start falling out of love with your project. Not sure about the pattern choice, the colours, the yarn. You spy another project that looks shiny and cool, and you’re off down another road. The granny square blanket is relegated to the naughty corner.
But it stays on your mind, and you find yourself going back to it. You make a few more squares. You start to fall back in love, until eventually, nearly all the squares are made. You can start to see how marvellous it’s going to be when you start putting all the squares together. You get excited at the thought of being able to put the border on.
And then, oh, the anticipation! The ends are all sewn in, the border is on, and you have a finished item. You can wrap yourself up and congratulate yourself on all your effort and dedication, realising it’s all worth it.
Today, I’m looking at sewing in some ends. And over the next few days, adding the border. The finish line is so close, so very close.
